Special Status: None.
Recognition: This liverwort is restricted to open, rocky slopes at high elevations, where its bilobed leaves with round or obtuse leaf apices characterize it under handlens observation in the field.
Distribution: Over damp soil, in rock crevices, on ledges, often calcareous; low to moderate elevations in northern regions, only high elevations in western North America south of Canada. Found as far south as Inyo County, California. Doyle 8730 (CAS).
Comments: This has been seen only once in Oregon, on the ridge overlooking Jefferson Park. It can be expected to be encountered in similar habitats throughout the high Cascades. To be looked for in the Wallowa Mountains.
