CAUTION: the distinction between these leads is not sharply defined. If a plant sits on a borderline between leaves retuse or emarginate and leaves shallowly lobed, it is usually best to try lead 12b first. Lead 12a is designed to pull out those species bearing leaves with predominantly round apices.
