Synonym: None.

Special Status: None.

Recognition: Thallus with aerolation very much like Marchantia and grows in similar habitats. Rarely seen with sex organs but always with lunate gemmae cups.

Distribution: On disturbed soil, most abundant in urban sites but occasionally found in apparently natural conditions, as along the coastal highway at Sea Lion Caves and the Umpqua River downstream from Roseburg.

Comments: An introduced species that is spreading. It has become very abundant in urban areas where there is a watering system. Moving into the wild at a steady rate; frequent in Umpqua River watershed where it was noticed before 1990.
