Recognition: Small ribbons with a midrib, forked hairs on the margin and lack of ascending, gemma bearing shoot tips characterize this species.

Distribution: On hardwood trunks of trees and shrubs, also on rocks, at low elevations in western Oregon.

Comments: Sometimes forms huge, furry patches on stream gorge walls.
