Special Status: ORBIC List 2.

Recognition: Medium sized, dark brown plants with complicate-bilobed leaves, the larger lobe dorsal. Distinguished by the regular production of microphyllous branchlets in the axils of every leaf, hidden from above by the dorsal lobes.

Distribution: In thick mats on peaty ledges; cliffs near summit ridges of Saddle Mountain, Clatsop County.

Comments: Saddle Mountain is the only North American locality for this species; otherwise found in eastern Asia (Schofield and Godfrey 1979).
