Recognition: A relatively small, nondescript Scapania with neither dorsal nor ventral lobe decurrent, and a border of thick walled cells.
Distribution: On soil or rocks in the mountains, not common, poorly known in our region.
Comments: A widespread, circumboreal species reaching its southern limits in Oregon.
