Guide to Liverworts of Oregon: Calypogeia integristipula Steph.

HOME         SPECIES INDEX         GENUS INDEX         GLOSSARY

Calypogeia 1b oil bodies colorless > Calypogeia 2b underleaves entire to emarginate > Calypogeia 6a underleaf marginal cells short > Calypogeia integristipula

Synonym: None.

Special status: None, but it should be evaluated as a sensitive species.

Recognition: Underleaves quite entire or merely emarginate; marginal cells of the underleaves are not elongated as in C. neesiana.

Distribution: Grows on organic substrate in cool and moist habitats; exact distribution to be determined.

Comments: In the past I reported a 1998 collection from the northern Coast Range Mountains (Rambo 5083) as referable to this species; I have recently (February, 2012) reexamined the specimen and revised this identification: I believe it is C. muelleriana. My collection from Strawberry Wilderness Area is not clearly identifiable; it has slightly elongated marginal cells on the underleaves so might be closer to C. neesiana. The Union County record illustrated below is typical C. integrifolia.
