Special Status: ORBIC List 2
Recognition: This species is characterized by consistent presence of three lobed leaves, a character of Barbilophozia. It lacks the cilia at the base of the leaves and has smaller underleaves than the other species of the genus. Also, the lobes are simply triangular rather than rounded-mucronate.
Distribution: Grows on rotting logs, peat or other well-decayed organic matter. In Oregon this species is known only from Saddle Mountain in Clatsop County.
Comments: Possibly to be found in the northern part of the Cascade Mountains in Oregon or on Mt. Hood.
