Special Status: Special status probably warranted pending further knowledge of its occurrence in Oregon.
Recognition: Plants erect or suberect; leaves lobed .25 to .35 or .4, the sinus deeply lunate, the lobes narrowly triangular, straight, +/- hornlike; perianth mouth long-ciliate.
Distribution: In Oregon reported from a single historical collection from McKenzie Pass (1938). There is no specimen in the herbarium of Oregon State University to verify this record. It is likely to be found in future exploration of subalpine habitats in Oregon as it has been recently been found in California. Apparently more abundant northward, it is widespread in Eurasia (Stotler & Crandall-Stotler 2017).
Comments: Stotler and Crandall-Stotler (2017) recommended using Lophoziopsis longidens as the accepted name for this species. Lophozia longidens is preferred here for keying based on morphology and because it follows the treatment in Flora of North America (Bakalin 2011aa).
